These are wonderful sketches and memories. I especially like your sketch of your father's house. I, too, would get emotional if I saw the troops at the airport. They are so very young. And war changes them forever, too. My brother, who is 16 years older than me, was a medic in Vietnam and he never talks about it. He lost his best friend over there. My husband's best friend's father was in WWII and his platoon was one of the first to liberate one of the concentration camps. He had nightmares until the day he died. I think your sketches are a very moving tribute to the brave, young men who are sacrificing their lives for us.
